The Earth2 Marketplace, the only way to sell your properties, and therefore, is one of the most important things in Earth2. However, might possibly be the worst thing designed in this game! It barely functions as a market, has no customisability for searching, and is downright horrible! In this article I'll discuss what is wrong, what works, and what is needed.
What do you do when you need to buy a property? Do you meticulously scan through every property listed? Well you must, as there is practically no customization when it comes to searching. You can search by property value, value per tile, size, and high prices, along with tier, class and country. You might think this is okay, but what happens when you want a property between $20-30 that has iron? There is simply no way to search that specific property, without browsing through unlimited bad deals and countless bids. How are you supposed to find any good deals with thousands of people thinking they can sell above the already inflated market price.
In all forms of real estate, you are supposed to sell at market price. But how can this be done when there is no market price? The displayed price in the marketplace is way over what anyone would ever buy the property for. And what's even worse, there are other people on the other end of the spectrum thinking that they can get away with selling their properties for way over the already overinflated market price. And the people who are actually serious about buying properties are becoming few and far between.
I've said it before, I'll say it again, we need a proper market value for properties. If we do not have a proper price point to see how much something is worth, we will never know exactly how much money we have made. We will never know what our *real* portfolio value is, and we will never know what we should sell our properties for. At the end of the day, this is what the real problem is.
